Lake Superior Committee

The Lake Superior Committee consists of senior staff members from Michigan Department. of Natural Resources, Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry, Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, the Chippewa-Ottawa Resource Authority, the Great Lakes Indian Fish and Wildlife Commission, 1854 Treaty Authority and the Red Cliff Band of Lake Superior Chippewa. The Committee's purposes are to:

  • consider issues pertinent to, or referred by, the commission;
  • consider issues and problems of common concern to member agencies;
  • develop and coordinate joint programs and research projects; and
  • serve as a forum for state, provincial, tribal, and federal agencies.

Lake Superior Technical Committee

The Lake Superior Technical Committee consists of fishery biologists from Michigan Department of Natural Resources, Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry, Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, the Chippewa-Ottawa Resource Authority, the Great Lakes Indian Fish and Wildlife Commission, the 1854 Treat Authority, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and U.S. Geological Survey. The Technical Committee's purposes are to:

  • provide agencies represented on the Committee with technical information on the status of stocks including management alternatives and guidelines in making and evaluating fisheries management decisions;
  • review proposed work assignments with the Committee and agreeing on the assignments to be carried out;
  • complete assignments as agreed upon and reporting back to the Committee at its annual meeting;
  • arrange for resource persons to assist the members as required;
  • advise the Committee Chairman of any additional funding or other requirements as needed; and
  • provide at the direction of the Committee, semi-annual, annual, and state-of-the- lake reports to the Committee members.
